With her expertise in lower school test prep, math, reading and writing remediation, and enrichment, Elly assists students in all aspects of their learning, including the ISEE, SSAT, and all subject areas through 8th Grade; she specializes in identifying the personal needs of her students while providing individualized test prep, academic, and emotional support. In particular, Elly works to incorporate executive functioning and self-regulation-skills into her tutoring, so that her students can plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and juggle multiple tasks successfully. A master of organized systems herself, Elly is the architect of Forum's lower and elementary ISEE and SSAT diagnostics.
Professionally over the last 15 years, Elly has worked the gamut of childhood development through formative education in both public and private settings. A teacher, private tutor, educational consultant and admissions consultant, Elly has become well-versed in the many aspects that equate to student success, while promoting meaningful and sustainable relationships with her students and families. Elly is trained in Orton Gillingham and has worked extensively with the Singapore Math Curriculum. She focuses on modifying curricula, scaffolding writing assignments, time management, and encouraging students to build strong study skills. Above all, Elly believes that patience and a desire to discover each child's educational needs are critical to a positive learning relationship; not only a strong knowledge of subject better, but an enthusiasm for the material, is critical for effective learning. When she is not tutoring or providing educational consultation, Elly enjoys traveling, running, yoga, and exploring all that NYC has to offer with her husband and baby boy.
